The Kaw Prairie barn service is a sacred thing-- but a sacred thing on the move-- kind of like Jesus' birth was! It's always been aimed at being playful and kid-friendly at the front end, but more sacred and serious as the hour moved along--a balance of family-fun and family-memories in a hundred-year-old barn full of farm-family and community memories itself. The order of service is:
- opening Christmas songs
- Bethlehem Highway, act 1
- Nativity Gospel
- Bethlehem Highway, act 2
- Christmas song
- Bethlehem Highway, act 3
- brief Christmas message
- candlelighting
- John's Gospel of the Incarnation
- closing Christmas songs
It's about an hour, and though the barn is temporarily heated and hot cider is served, it's still winter in a simple wood barn, so be sure to dress warmly! Remember, seating is limited, and though we work hard to offer enough services for everyone interested, if you're too late there may not be room. Hayloft seating has a video-screen to help see the action below more clearly.
