Music

Your Music is Contemporary!?

'Our music is contemporary,' you hear us say.  And you think, no kidding--everyone says that!

So what is contemporary worship music these days? Well, we can't answer that for you, but we can tell you what to expect at Kaw Prairie:  To put it simply, like St Paul at Mars Hill, or like Martin Luther in his bar-tunes-turned-hymns, we try to sing to--and sing about--God in the language of our culture: the melodies, rhythms, and beat of songs we'd hear on the radio.  Nowadays for us, that's music like the Passion artists, Paul Baloche, Tree63, and others like them.

We also play some hymns (always with a new sound--sometimes more rock & roll, sometimes more ethereal and haunting), as well as some fluffy, feel-good favorites every now and then.  Avant garde types can tell it's not "bleeding-edge new"--but our goal isn't to impress worship critics.  It's simply to be the humble, grateful people of God longing to celebrate His love for us, and thank Him for it!

So, yeah, whether you've been a Christ-follower for a long time (or you've been avoiding Christ-followers most of your life--we can be annoying!), our guess is that the music you experience Sunday mornings will help lead you to a place where God is closer and His love more real.

But most importantly, we pray that our worship of the Lord we love will always be authentic, profound, and that it would draw us into His presence, and put joy in His heart.
