Youth Director (Part time)
Located in the growing southwest suburbs of Kansas City, Kaw Prairie Community Church is a young and energetic — casual on the outside, serious on the inside — multiple-affiliation church (Lutheran and Presbyterian). We are a church learning to trust Jesus, grow disciples, and bless people, so that together we can change lives — and the world — with Jesus’ love.
Kaw Prairie Community Church is a 15-year-old congregation — learning and evolving under the leadership of its founding pastor and faithful elders, worshipping c. 400 per week, with a contemporary worship style. It is a healthy mix of doing and praying, evangelical and mainline, conservative and liberal, ancient sacrament and modern technology.
This position will provide assistance to the overall teaching ministry, and leadership to the youth ministry program (WILD) at Kaw Prairie Community Church. WILD ministers to middle school and high school students in a variety of different ways — including Wednesday-evening classes and Sunday- morning services, small and large group activities, short-term trips, and volunteer opportunities. Involvement with WILD students’ extracurricular activities is also required as we seek to strengthen the foundation of our Youth program and provide students with meaningful and impactful adult relationships on which to build/expand their faith.
This position will report to the Director of Family Ministries. The Youth Director, Director
of Family Ministries, and the Associate Pastor will work together to maintain and advance WILD, which currently ministers to approximately 50 students per week. They will work to expand their current offerings while also venturing into new areas of outreach, discipleship, and service.
We would expect the individual filling this position to bring their own passions, but to share these passions, as well:
