Rock Bottom: Strength

We've all got a giant. The thing that's been standing in the valley for forty days, talking trash, daring anybody to step up — and most of us have gotten really good at staying on the hill. This Sunday I'm going to be talking about the oldest underdog story there is: David and Goliath. But I think we've been reading it wrong our whole lives. It's not really about a slingshot and a lucky shot. It's about a kid who took off the armor everyone handed him, walked down to the lowest place in the valley, and found that what he needed had been sitting at the bottom the whole time. We're calling it Rock Bottom — because I've come to believe the bottom isn't where you fall. It might be the only place solid enough to stand.
